Isadri Hernandez Sanchez
In October 2015, when Isadri was 8 years old she cut her hair to donate it to kids going through cancer. In the following weeks we started noticing a white reflection, a glow in her right eye. And exactly 2 months after Isadri donated her hair, she was diagnosed with cancer too. We were devastated!
On December 22, 2015, we heard the words "IsadriI has cancer". The tumor was huge. She was diagnosed with Advance Unilateral stage VB Retinoblastoma on her right eye. Retinoblastoma is the seventh most common childhood cancer and occurs most often in children younger than five. It was even more rare in Isadri since she was 8 years old at the time of diagnosis.
Isadri fought this monster twice and finally after 5 rounds of intra-arterial chemotherapy, 2 intravitreal chemo, cryotherapy, laser therapy, surgery and countless pokes and visits to the hospital she is now "cancer free".
Isadri has been so brave, positive and strong during all these years, even on the hardest days. She always found something to smile about and a reason to be positive. She loves to play piano, write, tell jokes, paint, recycle, build and create stuff, and lately play Nintendo switch. She loves dogs, horses and strawberries. Isadri says that cancer has brought her a lot of blessings and this year we are celebrating her life CANCER FREE!
